Earlier this week, we saw a new Sony handset launch in Japan for au by KDDI called the Xperia ZL2. The feature-set closely resembles the Xperia Z2, although the design is different. The Xperia ZL2 comes with a smaller 5-inch FHD display, a plastic back and a slightly smaller, but thicker chassis than the Xperia Z2.
Reports from Japan indicate that the Xperia ZL2 will come with a VA panel, similar to the Xperia Z1, which may disappoint some who were hoping to see Sony adopt IPS panels for all of its future high-end phones. If you want to get a closer look at the phone, we’ve included some hands-on photos and videos of the Xperia ZL2 below. There are also some pics comparing the Xperia ZL2 against the Xperia Z1, so you can see just how chunky it is.
