The Sony SRS-X1 speaker looks very similar in design to the SRS-BTV5 wireless speaker. However, one key differentiator is that it is waterproof with an IPX7 rating. This makes it an ideal speaker for a bathroom or kitchen, something that Sony has emphasised in the promotional video below. Sony has also released a special promo site for the speaker here.
The SRS-X1 speaker has an output of 5W and is equipped with Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC (for easy pairing). In terms of battery life, the SRS-X1 will last for 12 hours and it weighs 185g. The Sony SRS-X1 is only confirmed for Japan right now, where it will cost 8,500 Yen + tax (€60) when it launches on 21 June 2014.
